The Woman in the Waves follows SHE, (age 25) a gender and society columnist, as she navigates her evolving relationship with a new man, HE (age 29), and grapples with what it means to trust, to be vulnerable, to love, and, most of all, to cope, as a survivor of sexual trauma.
- Shrink, She Said, Shrink Again (Writer & Director)
This short filmĀ is the story of Bella, a plus-size student, navigating her own relationship to weight andĀ eating disorders, while under the influence of both her doctor’s medical advice and also her friends’ unconsciously negative body talk, steeped in diet culture and the eating disorder culture so prevalent amongst college students. Winner of Best Drama at Portland New Alternative Voices Festival, Winner at San Diego Shorts Festival and finalist at Golden Short Film Festival.
- Dead Souls (Co-Director)
Dead Souls, by Dante Nastasi, is the story of a recently deceased young ghost meeting the souls of two lovers, who show him how to scare the living. However, this proves more complicated than they initially believed. Through their escapades, they must come face to face with their regrets in life and the meaninglessness of their existence. A horror/comedy/drama that explores the beauty of life and the importance of family. Premiered at Theater Latea for New York Theater Festival Dec. 8-11.

Anike Sonuga’s one-act, featured in the Spring 2021 Broke People Play Festival, follows two people who keep meeting each other in different lifetimes, and across different eras, right before major historical catastrophes. This was Kyra’s directorial debut for theater.
